Crafting Retreat – Welcome Home

Picture if you will, a country setting in the Mississippi River Valley with beautiful bluffs in the background, a four bedroom fully furnished and updated turn of the century farmhouse, with a fireplace room, large living room, a den with internet access and all the comforts of home. The kitchen is fully furnished for your culinary needs, including the essential coffee pot, dishes, silverware, pots/pans, blenders, toasters, crock pots and the like.

Freshly made beds and clean bath towels await you. The cedar sided farmhouse will sleep 12-14 comfortably. It has off-street parking to accommodate approximately 16 cars.

Dory’s Place is named in memory of my mother, who lovingly raised her family in this home. The smells of her baking bread, a roast in the oven or one of her fabulous pies will never be forgotten. Her daughter Cheri has bought the house, renovated it and is continuing to honor its nurturing karma. Mom would be pleased.

The retreat can be used for multiple purposes, including scrapbooking, quilting, knitting, beading, stamping, craft classes as well as spiritual retreats, corporate off-site strategy sessions (multiple spots for break out rooms), family togetherness under one roof, or a weekend with the “girls”.

Gilmore Valley Creek is down the back hill where you’ll find hiking trails and a bonfire pit. Across the creek are some world class cross country ski trails groomed by St. Mary’s University (fee based use).

A basket of assorted fruit, and good coffee await your arrival!

Ask us about lining up a massage to sooth those shoulders and necks during your stay at Dory’s Place!  If you would be interested in a massage while you are on your retreat, please let us know ahead of time. A fully licensed massage therapist can perform most any type of massage you would want, please visit the website of my friend Geri with Body Sense Therapeutic Massage at www.bodysensemassage.com. We would ask for a minimum of four clients, so she could make the best use of her time.
